One evening in Paris, after dinner and a bike ride up the Champs-Élysées, my dear friend Jeet Sohal of Bare and I hatched a plan over a glorious Pavlova.
Jeet is known for her very delicate line of fine jewelry, practical, but luxurious handbags and lovely personality. We met in LA, her hometown, almost a decade ago and we have been friends since.
Our mutual friend Nora Zelevansky who also lived in LA, but happens to be my friend from the progressive New York City preschool I attended in the 80s was about to debut her first novel whose title was the inspiration for our collaboration. The book “Semi-Charmed Life” is about friendships, old and new and finding one’s voice.
In keeping with the Bare esthetic and with friendship in mind we designed a bracelet with five, tiny, semi-precious stones dangling from a delicate 14 karat gold chain. The trinity of bracelets, this was not an accident, represent the many facets of friendship.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Friends In Deed charity, which provides emotional and spiritual support for all those affected by life threatening illness including families and caregivers. The donation will be made in my mother Kezia Keeble’s name to honor her brave fight against Breast Cancer.
I think my mother would be smiling today if she were here to read the Women’s Wear Daily article about the collaboration in today’s news.
